J-Burg's Hidden Nurseries

botanical garden

Johannesburg Botanical Garden might not be as famous as Cape Town's Kirstenbosch, but their nurseries are some of South Africa's best kept secrets. Layed out with silcia sand, the nurseries brings your mind to the dry river beds of a desert. There are more than 85 species of succulent plants, different kinds of Aloe, Euphorbia, Emblem, Sansevieria. You will also find members of the cactus family, including South Africa’s only indigenous cactus. The nurseries are home to extraordinary plants from other African countries too, like Namibia, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. The succulents are housed in six hidden and unique glasshouses. Stepping in to these hidden glasshouses truly makes you feel special.
